FAQ

I just signed up but didn't get the welcome email.

Check spam first. If it's not there after ~5 minutes, use the "Resend API key" option on the API-key gate screen, or email support — we can issue you a new key without going through signup again.

The AI seems stuck on "Step 1/2" for a long time.

Most classifications finish in under a minute. The first request after a quiet period can take 30–60 seconds longer while the AI hardware wakes up — that's normal. If you're still waiting after a couple of minutes, the service may be down or queue-blocked; email us with the file name and the rough upload time and we'll investigate. You can leave the app and come back in either case — the result will be on the review screen when it's ready.

Why does the AI need to see my documents?

It only sees the text we OCR out of the document on your iPhone — never the file itself. It uses that text to suggest a category and pull out the key numbers (balance, date, etc.). All of this is described in the privacy policy.

What document types does Finance Secretary handle?

UK bank statements (PDF + CSV including Midata format), credit- card statements, payslips, investment / ISA / pension statements, mortgage statements, receipts (photo or PDF), and invoices. If it's got financial figures on it, you can probably upload it and the AI will take its best guess at the category.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Account screen → Export. You'll get every transaction and asset as a single JSON file you can keep or import into another tool.

How do I delete my account?

Account screen → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This is irreversible and removes everything from your device. There's also a "Reset" option above it which wipes your data but keeps the account alive — useful if you just want to start over with the same email.

I found a bug.

Email [email protected] with the steps to reproduce. Including the file you uploaded (if it's not sensitive) and a screenshot helps enormously.

I want a feature.

Same email. We read every message even if we can't always promise to build everything.
